About the Institute:

The Kenya BioVax Institute is a State Corporation tasked with the manufacturing, packaging and commercialization of specialized Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) that include vaccines, therapeutics and other biomedical products.

Job Purpose:

The Marketing and Business Development Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and coordination in development and execution of strategies aimed at enhancing the Institute’s market share growth and profitability through Partnerships, Marketing and Business Development in the institute.


  1. A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a supervisory position in public service or private sector;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Life Sciences, Bio-Medical Sciences, Sales and Marketing, Business Management, Commerce (Marketing) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Master’s degree in business administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  4. Leadership Course not lasting less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  5. Member of professional body in good standing where applicable;
  6. Demonstrated high standards of professional competence and managerial ability;
  7. Proficiency in computer application skills; and
  8. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the development and implementation of marketing and business development strategies, policies and standards;
  2. Coordinating the formulation of demand forecasting and identification of business growth opportunities;
  3. Coordinate full market research cycle to inform new product development;
  4. Developing business partnerships;
  5. Coordinate promotion of Institute products;
  6. Facilitate product and market development;
  7. Oversee the preparation of periodic work progress reports;
  8. Coordinate the development, assignment and review of performance against set key indicators;
  9. Representing the Institute in marketing forums;
  10. Guide the development of divisional annual work plans and budgets and ensure prudent utilization of resources; and
  11. Contribute to current innovation, technical and operational knowledge on matters affecting the pharmaceutical industry through publications, editorials, among others;

The successful applicant will be appointed for five (5) year contract term and may be eligible for reappointment as per the Kenya BioVax Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.
